My favorite part of having Chinese food is reading the fortunes in fortune cookies. Some of the fortunes are laugh out loud funny and some are just silly, they always put a smile on my face. I started stashing the really good ones in my little medicine box a few years ago and just recently realized how many I'd stuck in there. Last week I found this little silver fortune cookie at the thrift store and brought it home knowing exactly how I would put it to use. I think my three all time favorites are,
"May life throw you a pleasant curve."
"Beware of cookies bearing fortunes."
"You look pretty."
Obviously someone gets paid to write these, ahhhmmmm.
Yesterday was a very good day. A very, very good day. I got a very pleasant curve. I received an email and later a phone call letting me know that I had been selected by Christine Hall in Savannah, Georgia, to receive one of her Canon 5Ds. I cannot adequately explain my excitement, it was seriously crazy. When I was asked for my shipping address I typed out the house number and street name of my childhood home, that I haven't lived in for 19 years, before I came to and realized my mistake. I'm blaming it on my brain slipping into auto pilot due to shock. Chrissy had decided to pass along one of her cameras, in an effort to Pay It Forward because she has been blessed by her family and friends in her photography career. Isn't that amazing? Her generosity in doing so inspired me to put the pen to paper and ink out my dream. I submitted my entry, with hopes to start Candy Dish Photography, still thinking it was only a dream. I really had given up on my hopes of pursuing photography in a more in-depth way because of the lack of funding to purchase a suitable camera. Due to the Behcets, I am unable to work full time but emotionally I've needed more than managing Behcets full time. I decided to push forward with Candy Dish and my Canon Rebel and trust that I could make it work; started the blog, ordered business cards, and stepped out in faith.
I am thrilled to be receiving such a generous gift and I cannot wait to start using the 5D. I know that it will improve the quality of my photographs along with my confidence to pursue the work I am longing to do on a more regular basis. It's amazing to have someone support your work in such a tangible way. I am amazed at Chrissys generosity in giving the camera and taking the time to call me and share in my excitement. This investment in my life is huge and I am so excited to start paying it forward myself.
If you are ever in Savannah, Georgia look Chrissy up and give her a bear hug for me, she's got one coming.
Blessings!
Awesome! Congratulations!!!!
